Many studies have been performed on the amount of coffee you can drink a day to consider it healthy and to get all the amazing benefits of this precious bean, but only until recently did a study presented at the American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions suggests that “daily coffee intake shouldn’t be discouraged, but rather included as a part of a healthy diet for people with and without heart disease! “.

This news changes the paradigm and prejudices around coffee, especially related to cardiovascular diseases. The data from the study was gathered from half a million people in a British medical database over a 10-year period.

What’s the magic number of cups of coffee?

According to the study, the ideal number you can drink a day to get the cardiovascular benefits of coffee is between 2 and 3 cups a day. People who kept their consumption in this range showed fewer heart problems and fewer chances of dying prematurely.

Moderation is key
These findings show that moderate consumption of coffee can prove beneficial, but people have to take into account the way they consume it. The impact of having cream, sugar, or milk on the coffee was not part of the study. What it shows though is drinking more than 6 cups a day is associated with a higher risk of dementia, brain volume, and heart disease.
